A Hiker’s Heaven: Namanga.

As I said in this post here, I’m increasingly getting addicted to travel. If you’ve had the chance to travel a few times, you know what I mean. Going to new places is always exciting. Even more so when it’s out in the wild- nature is therapeutic to the mind and soul. Don’t believe it? Try for yourself and see. Recently I went for a hike in Namanga and what a time it was! Read on to share in the adventure… Continue reading “A Hiker’s Heaven: Namanga.”

Day Out at Kisames

I am increasingly becoming addicted to travelling. Whether it’s a day trip or several days of camping, it’s more likely that I’ll take the opportunity when it presents itself rather than decline. Especially when it involves being out in nature. There’s nothing like it really. It’s therapeutic to the soul. Nature is unpretentious- what you see is what it is. Unlike people who are good at putting on masks…that’s a story for another post. Today I recount my experience at the incredible Ngong Hills. Continue reading “Day Out at Kisames”

Bogoria/ Nakuru Waterfowl Count with Nature Kenya

In my previous post, I let you in on the importance of wetlands to birds. In case you missed it, catch up here. Carrying on with the narrative, today’s post is about the Lake Bogoria and Nakuru waterfowl census as I had promised. Continue reading “Bogoria/ Nakuru Waterfowl Count with Nature Kenya”

Celebrating and Conserving Kenya’s Wetlands

Happy world Wetlands Day! If you didn’t know, now you do. What’s the significance of marking such a day? You may ask. Wetlands are important as they support livelihoods, the economy and provide ecosystem services like enriching soil, purifying water and sheltering endangered species. If you’ve been following this blog for a while, you may have noticed I’m an avid birder. Wetlands are especially important to birds as you shall read shortly. Unforgettable Camping in Samburu

Hey peeps! Hope your year is off to a great start? Mine is but typical of January, it’s a slow month. And after my Christmas holiday in the village regaining momentum is proving tough. Even writing this post is a struggle! Anyway, join me today as I look back at one of the most amazing trips I took last year. Continue reading “Unforgettable Camping in Samburu”

My Nature Kenya Experience

There are things we wish we had discovered earlier because they are so amazing. It’s only in May this year that I discovered Nature Kenya, even though it’s been in existence for ages (since 1909 actually, when it was founded as the East African Natural History Society). It is a non-profit conservation organisation that works to promote the understanding and conservation of nature. To find out what I like about N.K, read on… Continue reading “My Nature Kenya Experience”

My Other Love

Hey there. If you’ve been following this blog for a while, you may know me as a photographer. But like most creatives, I have other skills as well. Some people call it ‘the artist’s curse’ because with so many skills, one tends to get confused about where to focus their energy. An artist may have 5 or more artistic talents and asking them to pick one is like asking a mother to choose her favourite child. (Although some people readily play favourite with their kids). But I digress. Read on to find out what one of my other talents is… 🙂 Continue reading “My Other Love”

Conquering Mt. Longonot

At the beginning of this year, one of the things I really wanted to do was travel more. When you come to the realization that life is happening every day, enjoying it becomes important. There’s no point in waiting for the day that everything will be ‘perfect’, when you’ll have everything, to finally enjoy life. Continue reading “Conquering Mt. Longonot”

Marvelous Mara Adventure (Part 2)

Marvelous Mara Adventure

One of my goals for 2016 (I call them goals, not resolutions) was to travel more. This also is a goal for many of you, I’m sure. But I realised that without taking deliberate steps to make it happen, it could remain a dream. So I did my homework and researched on what it would take to go to Maasai Mara.
