Camping & Caving At Chyulu

Before this trip, the last time I went camping with Nature Kenya is December 2016 when we went to Samburu. This is mostly due to 2017 being the year I was at my lowest- financially. My travel diary was dry. But thank God I’m not broke now. 🙂 During the Madaraka Day long weekend, I joined fellow travel junkies on a trip to Chyulu Hills.

My Blog Turns 2!

Yes peeps! I’ve been officially posting on here for two years. TWO years! It’s been quite a journey. As I mentioned in this post here, this year began on a savage note. Some of the most hurtful words ever said to me in my life came from a close family member. Comments about what I’m passionate about not being a real career. Words that cut so deep that I felt a heaviness in my chest for 3 days straight. True story. But this is also the year of great things…read on to find out.

2018 Naivasha/ Elementaita Waterfowl Census with Nature Kenya

Happy World Wetlands Day! Every year on 2nd February this day is marked to create awareness on the importance of wetlands and the need to protect them. This year Kenya is holding the celebration at Lake Olbolosat, the only natural lake in central Kenya. I was to go for the Waterfowl Census that was done there on 21st January but missed out due to commitments. However, I managed to attend others and had so much fun. Case in point being the Naivasha/ Elementaita one.

Birthday Celebration + Highlights 2017

Hey peeps and happy birthday to me! Someone’s growing old. As the year draws to a close I decided to do a recap of the last 12 months. It has been quite a year hasn’t it? Full of surprises like the U.S President’s tweets. And closer home, Embu County employing workers to manually kill Fall Armyworms. Yes, you read that right! Anyway, if you missed last year’s summary post, catch up here –> (Highlights 2016) Maybe I could make this a thing, reviewing every year. What do you think?

Amazing Weekend at Elementaita

I’ll never forget May-July 2017. It was one of the most stressful seasons of my life. But also very eye-opening. I had earnestly prayed about something and God answered…though not in the way I expected. Being thankful and trusting Him despite that was quite a challenge, but He showed me that I’m stronger than I think. So after that rough patch, an opportunity to go camping was a welcome relief.

A Hiker’s Heaven: Namanga.

As I said in this post here, I’m increasingly getting addicted to travel. If you’ve had the chance to travel a few times, you know what I mean. Going to new places is always exciting. Even more so when it’s out in the wild- nature is therapeutic to the mind and soul. Don’t believe it? Try for yourself and see. Recently I went for a hike in Namanga and what a time it was! Read on to share in the adventure… Continue reading “A Hiker’s Heaven: Namanga.”

Day Out at Kisames

I am increasingly becoming addicted to travelling. Whether it’s a day trip or several days of camping, it’s more likely that I’ll take the opportunity when it presents itself rather than decline. Especially when it involves being out in nature. There’s nothing like it really. It’s therapeutic to the soul. Nature is unpretentious- what you see is what it is. Unlike people who are good at putting on masks…that’s a story for another post. Today I recount my experience at the incredible Ngong Hills. Continue reading “Day Out at Kisames”

Bogoria/ Nakuru Waterfowl Count with Nature Kenya

In my previous post, I let you in on the importance of wetlands to birds. In case you missed it, catch up here. Carrying on with the narrative, today’s post is about the Lake Bogoria and Nakuru waterfowl census as I had promised. Continue reading “Bogoria/ Nakuru Waterfowl Count with Nature Kenya”

Highlights 2016

I’ve come to notice that the year moves at the speed of light during the last quarter. One minute it’s October 1st, the next we’re singing Christmas carols. That in contrast to the beginning of the year where each day seems to have 30 hours. I can’t believe it’s December already. And this has been quite a year for me. Continue reading “Highlights 2016”

Road Trip to Suswa

Before I started running this blog, I hesitated a lot. I didn’t know what I’d be writing about. Being ‘just another blogger’ was something I feared greatly. Going with the crowd and following trends has never been my cup of tea. As such, it took me very long before making the first post. But a good friend of mine encouraged me to just start and things would soon fall into place. So I did. And now, it’s increasingly looking like a travel blog what with all the trips I’ve been making.
