Nairobi National Park- Early Morning Edition

Nairobi. The only capital city in the world with a national park right in the middle. Way cool, right? Yet it’s amazing how a good number of Nairobians don’t visit this treasure. And I’m not immune either. In my twenty plus years of living in Kenya, I’ve been to the Park countable times. How embarrassing! Shooting in Nairobi Redefined- WWIM16

I first learnt about Instameets in 2015 and was fascinated. At the time I was just getting into photography and would look for every opportunity to shoot. So when the Worldwide Instameet 16 for Nairobi was announced, I didn’t hesitate to attend. And what an experience it was! You may be wondering what is an Instameet? Possibly many definitions exist but mine is: an event where Instagrammers meet to know each other beyond the screen and for a specific purpose. For photographers that purpose is, well, to shoot. After being away from these meets for 2 years, I was elated to attend one this year.

Exploring Nairobi with Google Local Guides

If you’ve been following my blog for a while, you know that I love being out in the wild. But urban spaces can be fun too, if you know how to look. Not primarily where, but how. It requires viewing things from a new perspective. I remember in uni a book called ‘Looking and Seeing’ that explains how to ‘see’ as an architect. Being conscious of what’s in your environment as you take it in visually. It’s a bit hard to understand especially if you’re not a creative…haha.
